Events
In 2026, the United States will commemorate it's 250th birthday and Colorado it's 150th year of statehood and Douglas County will be joining History Colorado in celebrating these dual anniversaries. The county and, more specifically, the Roxborough Area Historical Society will also be marking this milestone with our own historical programs starting in November 2025. Look for the Am250CO150 logo across the county for these programs and events. Check out the website at www.Am250CO150.org for more information about all of the events taking place across our state.

After a brief Annual Report from the RAHS Board, Ms. Holly Geist, historian for Denver Water, will take
us on a pictorial tour of the facilities in and around the base of Platte Canyon, the historic name for Waterton Canyon. Learn about the extensive history Denver Water has with the South Platte River and what was going on up the canyon before the construction of the Strontia Springs Dam and Reservoir. In Addition, Mr. Bob Swan will be another special guest and will relive his life growing up at Kassler (originally named Platte Canyon Filtration Plant).
